CASA GROTTA DI VICO SOLITARIO
Historical site with an ancient troglodytic house in Matera.
An old troglodytic house, inhabited by a family of 11 at the time of its evacuation in 1962! The traditional interior has been reconstructed and makes it possible to grasp the extreme destitution in which the inhabitants of the sassi lived. A commentary, recorded in French, accompanies the visit. The ticket gives access to the Neviera (a place where snow was piled up to have ice available all year round) and to the rock church of San Pietro in Monterrone, just next door.
