Cathedral with an impressive statue of Saint Euphemia in Irsina.
Irsina Cathedral was founded in 988 by Giovanni, Prince of Salerno. The original Romanesque style, however, only the crypt and the base of the bell tower (the upper part is Gothic) remain, as the building was refurbished in 1777 in the Baroque style. The cathedral preserves a polychrome stone statue of Saint Eufemia, recently attributed to the Paduan Andrea Mantegna, a famous painter of the Italian Renaissance (it is said to be the only known sculpture of the artist).
