ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
The Museo Archeologico exhibits evidence of the various peoples who occupied the area from the Bronze Age to the Roman period
The museum brings together important repertoires from the archaeological area of Metaponte and the south of Basilicata. It exhibits testimonies of the different peoples who occupied the region from the Bronze Age to the Roman period: the Liky, the Oenosters, the Greeks... The Greek occupation and the evolution of the Italic centres of the interior are well illustrated. Noteworthy are the fertility statuettes and friezes depicting wedding scenes discovered in the San Biagio sanctuary. A good introduction to the visit of the archaeological park.
