Visit the monastery of San Francesco d'Assisi and admire interesting works of art from the 17th and 18th centuries.
Founded in 1217 by a disciple of St. Francis of Assisi, the monastery has been modified several times following the earthquakes that damaged it. The church was completely refurbished in the 17th century and its façade was rebuilt after the 1854 earthquake. There are interesting works of art from the 17th and 18th centuries. In the cloister with its ribbed arches are preserved architectural fragments and sculptures from the original period of construction.
