One of the most famous carnivals in Calabria gathers many visitors, dressed in their most beautiful masks and costumes.
At the foot of the splendid Pollino National Park, the Castrovillari Carnival, one of the most famous and important in Calabria, brings together many visitors who come to show off their best masks and costumes in the heart of the town. It closes with the Premio Cultura, which rewards the foreign folk group that best illustrates the traditions of its country of origin. Officially born in 1959, the origins of this carnival are lost in the mists of time.
