ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
Visiting the archaeological museum of Castrovillari, you will discover Arab-Norman plasters.
The archaeological museum is housed by the Protoconvento Francescano which was the first Franciscan convent in Calabria (founded in 1220). There are Arab-Norman plaster casts and an antique pottery room exhibiting fragments of bowls and objects from the time of the barbarian invasions (7th-8th centuries). Finally, a last room preserves vestiges of the Middle Ages, including the "Falera Equina" (decoration for the horses' harnesses) which belonged to Marguerite of Savoy for her nuptial procession when she married Louis III of Anjou in 1434.
