CHIESA SAN BERNARDINO DA SIENA
Church representing a unique and rare model of fifteenth-century architecture in Calabria
The Church of St. Bernardine in Siena is a rather rare example of 15th century architecture in Calabria. It was founded by the Prince of Bisignano Antonio Sanseverino. Its facade is preceded by a portico with four arches that houses frescoes that are unfortunately very deteriorated. It opens through two portals, one ogival, the other in Catalan-Durazzo style. The single-nave interior is covered by a Venetian-style ceiling made of boat hulls, a unique model for the region.
