NATIONAL ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF SIBERIA
The museum, a modern building, is only partially open and therefore presents only a limited number of collections. They come from the cities of Parco, Thurii and Gaul for most of the localities close to Parco del Cavallo and Stombi. Next to the oldest elements, dating from the th century B.C. and consisting mainly of ceramics, we will find more recent pieces, such as this beautiful statue of Roman Emperor Claudio. The territory of Sibari is also represented, with prehistoric remains discovered in the locality of nearby Brogglio di Trebisacce, as well as excavations of Francavilla Marittima, where two indigenous habitats were discovered, one of the bronze age, the other of the iron age. Testifying to the Greek presence, one of the most important parts of the museum is the Lady of Sibari. This small, decorated female statuette dating back to 650-625 BC comes from the Timpone della Motta, a sanctuary built on the hills of the hill and dedicated to Athena.
