DUOMO
Cathedral with a neoclassical style façade with 3 imposing portals and a bell tower
The Cathedral of Crotone was erected in the 16th century, with materials recovered from the temple of Hera Lacinia, and then rebuilt several times. The façade is in neoclassical style, pierced by three imposing portals and flanked by a bell tower. Inside, at the end of the nave, in the 19th century chapel, there is a Byzantine painting depicting the Black Madonna, or Madonna of Capo Colonna, which is the object of great devotion. It is a 15th century copy of an icon brought from the East at the beginning of the Christian era, which was unfortunately stolen.
