Circular building designed to protect a vast territory
Torre Melissa, a small village of feudal origin, was the stronghold of the Campitelli family. To the south, its 15th-century Aragonese tower was a checkpoint and defence point over the sea against Turkish incursions. This circular building, topped by battlements, was intended to protect a vast territory: from here, in fact, the panorama extends to Punta Alice to the north and Capo Colonna to the south. Every year Torre Melissa receives the Bandiera Blu for the quality of its waters. Finally, melissa is also the name of a famous wine produced in its hinterland.
