BASILICA DELL'IMMACOLATA
Basilica with wooden statues and a Neapolitan crib with figures
Founded in the 13th century and part of a former Franciscan convent that has now disappeared, the basilica was rebuilt in 1765 in the Baroque style and then rebuilt in the 19th century. Its present façade was rebuilt in 1912. Inside, with three naves, there are some 18th and 19th century works: wooden statues of St Michael and St Vitaliano and a Neapolitan nativity scene with 18th century terracotta figurines. The dome, high and luminous, has been decorated with frescoes from the school of Andrea Cefaly (a 19th century Calabrian artist).
