Church with a beautiful baroque facade with several beautiful marble sculptures
The church preserves a beautiful baroque façade (1632) with a marble portal, work of the sculptor Fontana. Inside there are several beautiful 16th century marble sculptures, among which a statue of St. John the Baptist attributed to Pietro Bernini (Bernini's father, a major Roman Baroque artist). It is in a common grave under the central nave that Murat's corpse was thrown in after his execution by shooting in the castle of Pizzo on October 13, 1815.
