DUOMO
Cathedral built in the Norman period allowing to admire some beautiful works of art.
Built in the Norman period, enlarged and remodelled after the 1783 earthquake, the cathedral has preserved a Gothic portal surmounted by a rose window on the façade; on the right, a 13th century portico with pointed arches. The left side is decorated with blind arcades typical of Norman architecture. Inside there are some beautiful works of art: a 15th-century black Crucifix of Spanish workmanship, a statue of the Madonna del Popolo of Montorsoli (1555), and, adorning the high altar, an image of the highly venerated Virgin of Romania, in Byzantine style, celebrated on 9 September.
