PINACOTECA CIVICA
The picture gallery illustrates the pictorial activity of southern Italy from the 15th to the 20th century through interesting works
Located in the halls of the municipal theatre, the pinacoteca illustrates the pictorial activity of Southern Italy from the 15th to the 20th century through interesting and varied works. The most prestigious pieces are two small paintings by Antonello da Messina (Saint Jerome and Abraham and the Three Angels), The Return of the Prodigal Son by Mattia Preti (a major Baroque painter from Taverna in Calabria), Christ and the Adulteress by the Neapolitan Luca Giordano, and a selection of works by Calabrian painters of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
