Markten or Grand-Place, one of the most beautiful vestiges of European Renaissance civilization, located in Bruges.

The Markten or Grand-Places are the heart of the northern cities, one of the most beautiful vestiges of the European Renaissance civilization. The picturesque Flemish houses date back to the 15th century. Every Saturday a fabulous market is held, instituted in the year 958! In the center, the monument dedicated to Jan Breydel and Pieter De Coninck recalls the uprising of the trades against the French domination in 1302. At the end, the neo-classical provincial palace and the Post Office are worth a look. Along the Markt, canals used to run which are now underground.

Très belle et grande place, où stationnent les calèches. Beaucoup de belles façades, le beffroi surplombe le tout, très romantique !

Très jolie place qui est située au centre de la ville. De nombreuses maisons colorées aux toits crênelés nous donnent envie de nous attarder et de flâner. Là encore on pense à certaines villes du Nord de la France. A ne pas rater !

Superb medieval square with these façades gable. We lunched in one of the restaurants ticket (centrally located restaurant). The dishes are good but I am not highly: starter and dessert which curl the ridiculous, waiter not friendly, no water carafe.

The Markt square of Bruges is the rest of the historic town: superb and authentic! Only one advice regarding this ticket, avoid restaurants, they are absolutely tourist trap, the menus (identical printed), the same prices (consider the VAT, you realise there during paid), and a friendly waiters curling diplomatic incident when you are French-speaking!
