PETRIFIED LOGS & THE CABINS
Mounds and rock forms in Valley of Fire State Park constituting fossilized wood from a forest
At the east and west entrances to the park, you can discover mounds and rock forms made from the fossilized wood of a forest that grew there 225 million years ago. To the east of the Visitor Center, the road leads to some interesting geological formations. A few hundred metres further on, you can branch off towards the "cabins". These are the remains of the Valley of Fire's first tourist facilities, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
