AGHAKSAK (SALT SACK)
Recognizable by its sign that reproduces the multicolored canvas bag where the Armenian peasant used to put his salt (aghaksak), this pretty shop located at the beginning of Abovian street, at the exit of the Republic, offers a large choice of souvenirs. It was one of the first signs in the capital to offer unformatted and original items. You will inevitably find something to bring back among the multitude of ceramic or fabric objects (kilims and carpets), inspired by Armenian handicrafts, at high prices for local but affordable standards.
