SOURP HOVANNES CHURCH (SAINT-JEAN)
This orange stone church, built between 1708 and 1710 and overlooking the Hrazdan Gorge, is dear to the hearts of the locals.
Overlooking the Hrazdan Gorge, on the Kond Hill, which gave its name to the district, this small orange stone church, topped with a dome, was built between 1708 and 1710. It is therefore posterior to the earthquake that devastated Yerevan in the 17th century. The church, whose design is based on the great architectural principles, is not very original, like most churches of the time, but it is dear to the heart of the inhabitants to be one of the oldest.
