KIROV PARK AND GARDEN VARDANIANTS
A park in the heart of the capital featuring old-fashioned merry-go-rounds, a playground and the Vardaniants garden.
Situated in the heart of the capital, opposite the Shirak Hotel, the peaceful Kirov Park, otherwise known as Gomaiki, is the meeting place for all the families of the district, and children are kings there. A crown that was disputed by transvestites hours later, much to the chagrin of the local residents who demanded their eviction! As for the children, they don't care much about it and give it their all in old merry-go-rounds or in a small amphitheatre transformed into a playground, under the tender and amused eye of retired people playing chess or nard and to the sound of music coming from the Rainbow café or Petit Paris.
The Jardin Vardaniants wants to be a little more solemn. And with good reason, since it was inaugurated on May 10, 2019, on the occasion of the 2,800th anniversary of the creation of Yerevan. It is located in the extension of the green alley south of Republic Square, with its 2,750 fountains, built in 1968 during the Soviet era to celebrate the 2,750th anniversary of Yerevan. The Vardanyants Garden, named after the benefactors who financed its construction, and also known as the 2,800th Anniversary Garden, is a very popular place for strolling, with its beautiful street furniture, its spaces planted with sometimes rare species, its bronze statues, and above all its fountains whose water jets delight children. The paving on the ground is decorated with motifs from Armenian carpets, and there is also a map of Yerevan to help you find your way around..
