ASTROPHYSICS OBSERVATORY
Observatory founded by V. Ambartsoumian to showcase a vestige of Soviet science and scientific technology.
If you wish to see a relic of Soviet science and scientific technology, the Biurakan Observatory gives you the opportunity to do so, even though its pink tufa buildings have been restored. Recognizable by its white domes, the observatory was founded in 1946 by V. Ambartsoumian with the means on board, such as this telescope confiscated from the Germans in 1945. The observatory has 3 telescopes, one of which is 2.60 m in diameter, around which some 60 scientists are active.
