Hovhannes Chiraz (1915-1984), the great Armenian poet, was originally from Gyumri. Although he lived in Yerevan, where he had difficult relations with the Soviet power, this museum exhibits some of his books and personal objects. It is to Shiraz that we owe these famous verses that any Armenian can recite to you: "We were at peace like our mountains, you came like the crazy winds.
