SOURP ASDVADZADZINE AND SOURP SARKIS CHURCHES

Church dating from the century, distinguished by its large, rounded apse punctuated by large arcatures.
On a hilltop a little way from Artik, the 6th century Sourp Asdvadzadzine church is partially in ruins. Next to it, the Sourp Sarkis church otherwise known as Sour Kevork, which dates from the same period, is better preserved and much more imposing. Its originality lies above all in its large projecting and rounded apse, as rarely seen in Armenian churches, punctuated by large arches and pierced with windows underlined by semi-circular frames.
