ARENI CELLAR
Old cellar in Aréni to discover grape press elements, wine jars, a bowl...
Near the church, this archaeological site has not finished delivering its treasures on the Armenian Bronze Age. After the oldest shoe ever worn in the world, in 2011, remains of a 6,100 year-old wine business were discovered here, making Aréni the oldest wine cellar in the world. Elements of a grape press, wine jars, ancestors of the "karas", and a cup where it was drunk, all bear witness to the myth that Noah planted the first vine at the foot of the Ararat, making Armenia the cradle of wine!
