STATE MUSEUM
Museum housed in an old building in the heart of the city, with a rich collection relating the history of Artsakh.
Installed since 1936 in an old building in the heart of the city, this museum, which has an important collection enriched by recent discoveries, retraces more than 3,000 years of Artsakh history, from the Bronze Age to the present day. A history which the museum underlines the close links with that of Armenia, from Ourartou to the war with Azerbaijan, via the foundation of Amaras by Gregory the Illuminator. The rich ethnographic section illustrates the life of the inhabitants of Artsakh and their crafts, especially the carpet industry
