RAK NATIONAL MUSEUM
This national museum is well worth a visit for anyone wishing to learn more about the history and culture of Ras-al-Khaimah
Founded as a fortress over 2 centuries ago, from the early 19th century until the 1960s, Fort Al-Hisn, built on 18th-century foundations, was the residence of the current sheikh's father. It was also a prison for 3 years. In 1987, it became a museum dedicated to sharing the history and culture of the emirate. Residents were so pleased that they donated many objects. The Emirati guides are fascinating, and in excellent English, you'll have a great time discovering beautiful archaeological pieces, jewels, weapons...
