The specialty of the House of Taittinger in California? Pinot noir and sparkling wine in the Champagne style, of course. In 1986, Mr. Taittinger discovered the region and its virtues for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. He built the Carneros estate, a reproduction of the Château de la Marquetterie, the headquarters of the Taittinger estate in Champagne. Since then, the Carneros estate is one of the great Napa Valley estates. On the terrace overlooking the vineyards, you can taste fabulous wines, sparkling or not. Among the reds, try the Famous Gate.
