My parents were in town recently and had a wonderful stay here. Also perfectly located for sunset walks down to the beach! Highly recommend.

This place never disappoints! We will always stay here when visiting. The place is drenched in charm and it’s close to the water, 3rd street promenade, and great coffee shops. We often get upgraded and their suits are Huge!

I stayed at Palihouse in February. I am a sucker for old California Spanish style architecture, so the atmosphere and aesthetic was dreamy. My room had a full kitchen, which had everything I needed except a tea kettle. Would love for them to consider that in the future! The rooms are not tricked out tech wise, but if I have to choose, I’ll take Diptych toiletries and Frette linens any day over tech. The location is incredible and easy access to the walking path on Ocean is a bonus. Overall, loved it enough to return to Palihouse in a few weeks with my daughter and parents.

Weirdest experience ever. Beautiful property, could be a great experience if management would see better who is meeting people there. Never seen anyone so rude and disrespectful as the men , working at the reception. Beautiful design as I said, but room is cold and not warming up totally. Overall, bed experience, would not come back here unfortunately

Hotel con mucho encanto y bien ubicado. Quizás algo envejecido.

Could not be more happy I chose to stay here. Hector and the rest of the staff here was incredibly hospitable. Beautifully located place, gorgeous inside and out. Feels like you're in a dream. They also have great orange juice every morning
And it's always quiet enough to take your meetings or work in the lobby or in the outdoor areas
Thank you for a great time. Will be back

Updated: I still stand behind my review but wanted to add I reached out to the owner directly about our experience and he did refund our night and said he would take action to correct the dust, stains, and crack. Adding this here since customer service is important and perhaps the owner was not aware of how his staff behave when he’s gone. So kudos to the owner for making this right after the fact.

I recently stayed at The Palihouse Hotel in Santa Monica November 2023, expecting a luxurious experience as depicted in their online photographs. Unfortunately, the reality was a stark contrast, leading to a deeply disappointing stay.

Firstly, the room's condition was appalling. For a staggering $500 per night, I was greeted by a room with stains on the bed skirt and a large, prominent crack in the bathroom floor, dust everywhere, a photo of a creepy child displayed. These issues not only presented a cleanliness concern but also a safety hazard. This level of upkeep is far from what one would expect in this price range, especially in a competitive area like Santa Monica.

Adding to the distress was the staff's attitude when I reported the issue. We were “upgraded” to another room but it still was not what was advertised. The person at the front desk said this was the best room they had though it did not match the online photos.

I decided to check out early due to these unacceptable conditions. Upon expressing my concerns, I was met with rudeness from both the woman and man at the checkout desk. Their unprofessional remark, "I hope you find a hotel without a crack in the floor," was both unnecessary and unhelpful. It was especially frustrating considering they insisted I pay for one night, despite the lower rate advertised online. It was worth paying to leave this place though sad at that steep price.

It's bewildering that The Palihouse Hotel chooses to misrepresent their rooms online, showcasing images that do not reflect the true, worn, and unkept state of their accommodations. It's misleading and unfair to guests expecting a certain standard of quality. If the hotel is proud of its offerings, why not show the real pictures and let guests make informed decisions?

Do yourself a favor and book at the Viceroy which is where I went after leaving this awful place showboating as a hotel. It really had “Get Out” vibes straight from the movie and was super creepy down to their staff. Shame on the owners and staff of this “hotel.”

The positive reviews are obviously fake. MJ has posted twice and it’s the same person. Please stop faking reviews and actually try to improve your hotel.

We LOVED our stay at the Palihouse -- everything was sublime. The accommodations made traveling with a preschooler much more enjoyable, and the location was ideal -- close enough to everything in Santa Monica but quiet and secluded. The only way it could have been better is if we could order a spritz from the coffee bar, (sadly, no liquor license). We will definitely stay here on our next visit to Los Angeles.

The service and room at the Palihouse Santa Monica were amazing. I needed a space to work out of for the day and the room that I reserved was perfect for that. The team was also very accommodating in letting me check-in a little earlier so I could make my meeting on time.

I've stayed in many hotels in LA and for the last few trips I don't consider staying anywhere but Palihouse. The outside is stately and gracious and the inside is old-world charm. The rooms are spacious, homely and comfortable and the staff are all courteous and helpful. It's a little old fashioned but that is a plus in a world becoming ever more corporate and uniform.

As it only serves breakfast (and light lunch) and has no bar, it is more like a grand B&B. This is part of its charm as the large and comfortable communal areas are quiet and relaxing.

I'm always happy to return.

Will unlikely stay here again. Room smelled very musty and the hallways felt quite old (kind of a “haunted” vibe). Never received a receipt when I checked out. Was mysteriously charged for meals from the restaurant that I never went to. When I inquired, I was refunded and they apologized, but had I never checked my credit card statement afterwards I would have never known.

My team had a lovely stay at the Palihouse Santa Monica. They enjoyed the location, aesthetics, and atmosphere. Joshua Q., Sales Manager, and his colleague, Kylie D., made planning a dream. They were incredibly accommodating and responsive. A+++
