Gorgeous Art Deco hotel that has been restored beautifully with much attention to detail like the checkerboard walkway is with dark forest green & off white cream instead of pedestrian black & white check. The bellhop is perfectly suited with matching classic porter’s pillbox chapeau with a hand elegantly resting on the check in desk with all the glorious warded keys. He kindly gave us a mini tour so that was the cat’s meow. As an Art Deco Society of CA (Nor Cal) card carrying member - that was VERY appreciated. We were at the Biltmore the night before. Just everywhere lots of staff and creative touches like antique phone with an equally antique conversation you can listen in on. And the tour Stop 33 train platform arrives at . . Antique type writer!!!!! They have a gorgeous jewel toned legit speakeasy hidden below, curated rooms with amazing views.
We had breakfast. Unfortunately did not stay overnight. Breakfast for my intern: oatmeal with fruit & me: tomato avo toast. Also had Tea service which for us was 13$ per person for a single bag of Bigalow. Our waiter came with a cream colored 3x4 bagged tea display box; half of cubes were empty and the other half was grocery store brands. So 1 tea bag in a 4 cup pot x2 = $26. (Which is woefully under leafed! No matter - I’m always packing tea - my own loose leaf and bagged brands so added a couple bags to my pot). Tea service meant No lemon, No sugar cubes, No milks, and No tea equipment besides the pot & the cup. I had gotten the exact same Earl Grey Bigalow bagged tea complementary 6 days prior at a Loves Truck stop on the drive down from SJ. (Not knocking Bigalow - solid family owned US grocery store bagged tea brand) So I asked for honey for my tea. Our perky and chatty (in the very best way) waiter went off to get honey. Came back empty handed, but . . . his face showed he was clearly carrying a problem, he let me know there would be a charge . . . for honey. . . .
Bill with generous tip was comfortably over $100. Still so not sensible on that. My intern’s honest & generous 5 ⭐️ review “Very pricey but cool.”
We were the only ones there for breakfast.

I have a high end functional loose leaf tea business that is Art Deco - clearly we could flawlessly benefit each other. So in a fit of genuine joy and practical business generous open heartedness, I left waaay too much of my Art deco tea business info, samples, full bag of tea, brochures and booklet (brief history of Art Deco & Tea Dances - part of my TEDx talk on tea) with them. I even tagged them on my one of IG poem posts. But . . . I have not heard back. Sigh ????, so by the Power of Google review, let good fortunate communication sprout anew.

Glory be! Green Golden Goddess is she!
Standing proud & tall Sun faced, watching people’s lives Fun paced.
So Welcoming & Cordial to a perfectionist’s fault,
But Secrets a plenty hide in blind tiger basement Vault.
A bar to die for, even if a Prohibitionist be,
A view to sigh for, so I pause to sup a bit o’ tea.
With the toughest intern you ever knew,
Joins me on veranda for a tea brew.
At the Georgian Deco Hotel,
We forget invalidations for a spell.
Bit o’ breakfast avo-tomato toast brunch with tea,
Lounging in public art piece the building’s canopy.
People watching on the beach, street & cars,
So Rive Gauche when everyones acting like stars.
With service, smiles, Sun, & Deco beauty such as this,
It’s hard Not to be present or any little bit remiss.
My mind retrieves files of various yesteryears,
Ignites creativities, ideas, & desires clear & dear.
As one of spirit, sights, words & sounds,
I was lead by pill-boxed host & found:
A Deco Typewriter quite nostalgic,
And On its keys I so quickly click.
Ink pressed deep color into page,
Of Shapes black on white & sage.
Somewhere, a right button was getting thrust,
My “The Usual”: Queen’s tea with chaser of trust.
Glory Be! Green Golden Sun Goddess is actually Me! And to this vision I am trussed.

Gorgeous building with a beautiful ocean view.

The Georgian Hotel is on the beach practically (about a 7 minute walk to get across the highway via an overpass) and has great views. Especially if you have an ocean or partial ocean view. Otherwise you look at the side of an office building. The rooms and beds are comfortable. Storage space for clothing could be better. The hallways need some updating - a bit dark and dirty. Parking is valet only and is very expensive for overnight. One fourth to one fifth of total room charge. Other “luxury” hotels in the area do not charge nearly as much. Additional “daily amenity” add on fee for beach towels and WiFi is ridiculous and feels like being nickel and dimed. This fee was about one tenth of overall room charge. This fee wasn’t disclosed until I asked at checkout. We didn’t use any beach towels and I’ve never been charged for WiFi before. Hotel bar/entry has a nice vibe though more expensive than it needs to be for a hotel bar. It would be busier if prices were better. Complimentary coffee in the morning like other medium to high end hotels would be nice as a famous chain coffee shop is 7 minutes walk away. The complimentary bottled water was nice. Lots of homeless people surrounding the hotel. Generally they’re harmless but it does take away from the experience. You would think with LA’s taxes and resources they could provide better services and shelter for the homeless but also get them off of the street. Many displayed evidence of either substance abuse issues or schizophrenia. They are everywhere in the area. Instead it’s just lots of cops and lots of homeless guys both keeping the peace but I’d be aware walking late at night or early morning to get coffee. The restaurants in the area are mainly tourist traps - very expensive and very average. I preferred eating in Venice on Abbot Kinney and elsewhere. The Pier which I assumed to be nostalgically chic is actually a little tacky. Take it for what it is. Lastly, the bellhops and their intentionally kitschy uniforms were a bit annoying how they grubbed for tips. One on checkout was very nice when I declined his help, the other on checking in was a bit off putting and had a slight attitude towards us. I even tipped him for NOT carrying our bags to no avail. Housekeeping was very good and very nice. My stay was fine - not great but not terrible - but I also didn’t like being nickled and dimed for this and that. You’re paying for the location but I’d also recommend exploring other hotels in the area further south along the beach or slightly away from the beach as an alternative. I’ve stayed in the area many times before but pre-Covid. I wouldn’t say the Georgian is a great value. A little expensive for what it is. In the heart of downtown Santa Monica which is good and bad.

I came to the restaurant at the Georgian hotel.
I want to commend the Georgian restaurant staff and management. I had the pleasure of having a cocktail, fries and a latte in the terrace today. Every single staff member I came across from the hostess, to the waiters and waitresses, were some of the kindest restaurant/hotel staff I have ever come across. That typically happens with solid management and leadership- so thanks to you and your staff for whatever you are doing that helped make my time with The Georgian a wonderful experience. I will definitely be back and will bring a group sometime!

10 stars for exceptional hospitality. The staff here is clearly very passionate about The Georgian. Every time we walked thru the door, we were greeted with smiles and "welcome back!" They allowed us to extend our vacation an extra day without having to move rooms as well as gifted our son a Hotel Georgian bear upon checkout. We felt so loved.

You can tell it's an old building but the details in this renovated hotel are stunning. The first floor boasts a Parisian style porch for dining, gorgeous bar area, and moody library-esque check-in. Our double queen room was so spacious! At first I was unhappy that we were placed in the room that wrapped around the elevator. Yet we didn't hear a sound! The amenities make you feel at home: R+Co hair products, delightfully soft bath robes, slippers, Nespresso machine upon request. If we are in Santa Monica again, we will be returning to Hotel Georgian.

[My only complaint is that whoever thought out the glass panel in the shower needs to redo. There is simply not enough coverage to keep an excessive amount of water from splashing out during bathing.]

To the staff: Thank you so much for a delightful stay and making our vacation extra special!

As someone who has lived in Santa monica for a decade, I can assure you this is the best place to stay.

It is in the heart of Ocean Avenue across the street from Palisades Park.

It is rich with history and charm and recently had a makeover to revive it.

We had a fantastic family stay at The Georgian, nothing short of what we had dreamt of and a wonderful experience we will remember for years to come. We were blown away by the attention the detail, courtesy and professionalism of the staff in every area of the hotel. The Georgian will always be my top choice whenever we come to Santa Monica; I can't recommend it highly enough to my friends.

The Santa Monica Pier and the bridge connecting to the beach are just steps away. The staff was incredibly genuine and caring. From Aziel at the front desk, to Melinda at breakfast, and Jeff at the door, everyone made us feel welcome from the minute we stepped in.

The moment we entered our room, it felt like a scene from a Wes Anderson film. Everything was beautifully done, and I loved that they kept a lot of the building's historical components, which gave the hotel a timeless feel. Our room overlooked the ocean, which was absolutely magical at sunrise and sunset.

It was my boyfriend's birthday, and they surprised us with some delicious birthday cookies, a really nice touch. We had a chance to have breakfast on their terrace, where Melinda, our rockstar server, took great care of us and made sure we were satisfied with everything. The French toast is a must-try! We also dined at their restaurant at night - the ambiance, food, mocktails, service by Sophia made our evening unforgettable!

Thank you to The Georgian team for making his birthday getaway so special! We'll definitely be back soon!

We had an incredible experience during our stay at The Georgian! The hotel and rooms are super stylish, and every single staff member was so welcoming and friendly, going above and beyond our needs. We got to eat at the restaurant for brunch - highly recommend if you’re staying here or visiting the area. We also got to experience the Georgian room at night which was such a vibe! The location of this hotel is also perfect, right across the beach and easy access to great shopping and restaurants!

Was such a great night here! The design of the hotel is fantastic, the brunch was incredible and the Georgian room bar had great drinks and a fun band playing

The Georgian is one of the most fun things to see in Santa Monica. It is almost 100 years old and a excellent example of art Deco architecture and interior design and it's been kept original. Small but beautiful bar. Full restaurant. It is also haunted by the ghosts of the woman who commissioned the hotel who went for a walk across the street and was found drowned in the ocean two weeks later. ????

Immaculate renovation on the property. Stayed in the Ocean View Suite and it was incredibly nice. Beautiful view, very spacious, and a great hotel staff. Cocktail bar is lovely and location is top notch for beach biking and walking. Highly recommend.

My husband and I have been staying here for a week in an Ocean View Suite. I feel compelled to share a review because as I write this - the hotel only gets 4.3 stars on Google. Because of that, we arrived without high expectations.

I'm happy to report that we have been completely delighted with our stay!

Seems the negative reviews are based on experiences customers had before and during a big renovation. But here we are, post-renovation, and it seems the hotel spared no expense in upgrading the property. The design of everything is gorgeous. The room is spacious. The staff is all very friendly and helpful. Bed is very comfortable, and the shower has great water pressure.

My only complaint is the lack of room service early in the morning. We are early risers, and room service doesn't start until 8am. So my husband has been trekking over to Starbucks every morning to get coffee, as we wake up around 6.

Overall, we are very happy with this experience and we will certainly stay here again when we return to Santa Monica.

UNHINGED Hotel Manager Cries To POLICE To OPPRESS Man’s FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS. Very rude hotel front door staff here at the Georgian Hotel. I've seen Motel's that treat the public better than this place. The pretentious front door staff man with the receding hairline needs to either respect people's 1st amendment right to fil in public or move to a country that doesn't allow public filming.

Just superb! The hotel has so much charm and a very intimate feel. The rooms are simple, tasteful and nicely equipped. The views from an ocean view room make you want to stay inside your cozy room and just look. The terrace restaurant is another wonderful element. The staff were all top notch - friendly, helpful, professional. I hope to return soon to the Georgian. Thanks, everyone!
