HOTEL SHANGRI-LA

Bar was nice, great sound system and views. Actually had bartender come up to ask if we needed something. Someone just needs to replace many burned out lightbulbs on deck.

I originally booked here for an upcoming stay and just cancelled after reading some reviews about the hotel renovations that are happening. There is no information on their website about it. I called their customer service line to see if there was a timeline of when it would be completed, she claimed she was unaware of any renovations happening. I asked to be connected to the front desk instead and she said they could not transfer me because there is no phone at the front desk.

Hotel check in - took over an hour for computer to load our payment front desk staff unable to get a hold of anyone to get us checked in. Front desk staff working on her own computer? Not luxury.

Our “check in card”- a hand written number on a mini sticky note… I mean come in you could at least have given us a full sized sticky! Jk- super ghetto.

Valet- no communication between front desk and valet. Great guy working the valet, but just awful management and no systems or processes here. This felt like a high school operation.

Room- after getting back from a movie (at around 11) , my wife and I got back to the room and the bar was so loud (like we were at a rave in Miami) that it was coming through the walls in our room. They know this is an issue and they left construction ear plugs in the rooms. You can’t make that up.

Rate- if it were $50 bucks a night and was “motel sander” this would be a good deal. But it’s not. About 600% overpriced.

Great rooftop bar. Excellent spot to watch sunset.

Our first time in a Sonder. Excellent rooms, plenty of space (600 sq ft), we had to make numerous changes to the booking and room type and all was smoothly handheld through their app. The location was simply outstanding 0 on Ocean Ave, and the roof top bar better than any in Santa monica!
