Nestled high on the cliff, the Fairmont Miramar was privately owned by the founder of Santa Monica when it was built in 1921. Three years later, the place was expanded to accommodate many celebrities in residence. For example, this is where Marilyn Monroe would take refuge when she was trying to escape the crowds in the 1930s. In addition to being a historical monument, the hotel offers a unique panorama of the Pacific and hosts a lush garden.
