EL CARMEN

Founded in 1929, this hip and lively establishment's first mission was to contribute to the cultural richness that is characteristic of Los Angeles, all through its decidedly Mexican spirit. Even today, when you step through the thick red curtain, you feel like you're walking into a small bar in Mexico, where tequila and mezcals are the focus, with over 300 labels from nearly 175 producers. Once you have chosen your drink, you take a seat under the mosaic-covered ceiling, among a clientele of regulars.
