Iglesia de Nuestra Señora la Reina de Los Ángeles
A Franciscan, colonial-style church hosting Spanish-language Masses in Los Angeles.
Built between 1814 and 1822, this Franciscan church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Known as La Placita, it was the only place of worship for Spanish immigrants in the Los Angeles area until 1876, when the Cathedral of Saint Vibiana was built to accommodate English-language masses. For its part, La Placita will continue to celebrate mass in its original language. Even today, its charming colonial style is an invitation to meditation.
