EASTERN COLUMBIA BUILDING
Luxury lofts in a remarkable building, with a large clock, the finest example of Art Deco architecture in Los Angeles
It is perhaps the finest example of Art Deco architecture in Los Angeles. Built in 1930, this 13-story building originally housed the headquarters and stores of the Eastern and Columbia Outfitting Company, from which it takes its name. It is easily recognizable by its large clock, which is illuminated at night; for a long time it was inactive, but in 2005 it was reactivated for the building's 75th anniversary. In 2006, it was renovated and transformed into 147 luxury lofts.
