BULLOCKS WILSHIRE
A remarkable Art Deco building, a former temple of luxury in Los Angeles.
This Art Deco building built in 1929 by the founder of Bullock's stores has long been the temple of luxury in Los Angeles. Recognizable by its 73-meter high tower, it housed the brands of the greatest fashion designers; celebrities of the time such as John Wayne, Marlene Dietrich, Alfred Hitchcock and Walt Disney regularly went there to do their shopping. However, the decline of business in the 1980s led to the building's permanent closure in 1993. Although it is no longer possible to visit it, its façade is worth a look.
