Los Angeles Central Library, a true Art Deco treasure of Downtown.
A true Art Deco treasure in Downtown, the Los Angeles Central Library first opened its doors in 1926. On the façade as well as inside the building, note the omnipresent themes of the sun - source of knowledge - and transmission, symbolized by a torch erected at the top of the building, on the pyramidal roof. Above all, don't miss the painted ceilings in the old part of the building and in the Children's Literature Department. Not to be missed!
