This Spanish style residence was built in 1818 by Francisco Avila, a wealthy rancher who was mayor of the pueblo between 1810 and 1811. It is an interesting testimony of the life of the settlers in the pueblo. The villa can be visited for free. Notice the kitchen opening onto the courtyard of the house: the women were cooking and burning outside in the open air.
