JOHN WAYNE STATUE
A remarkable statue of the illustrious John Wayne in front of a huge building, the former Great Western Bank, in Los Angeles.
If you're ever in Beverly Hills, you're sure to see the statue of the illustrious John Wayne (1907-1979), a cult actor who first came to prominence in the 1920s, notably for his roles in Stagecoach (1939), Fort Apache (1948), 3 Godfathers (1948) and She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949). Today, he is enthroned on a large bronze horse, dressed as a cowboy, in front of a huge building that was once the Great Western Bank, for which the star was spokesman. A tribute was paid to him in 1984 for his 50-year career.
