ECHO PARK LAKE
Urban park surrounding a remarkable lake and offering a beautiful view of the Downtown skyline, in the heart of the Edendale neighborhood.
With a beautiful view of the Downtown skyline, Echo Park surrounds a 5-hectare lake. Built in 1868, it was originally a water reservoir diverted from the Los Angeles River to supply the surrounding farms. Then, in the 1890s, the city turned it into a vast urban park in the heart of the Edendale district - where Silver Lake, Los Feliz and Echo Park now stand - a hotbed of silent film studios in the early 20th century. Today, the park is mainly used by families for picnics and pedal-boating.
