PERSHING SQUARE
Pershing Square is today an important meeting point and crossing point for Angelenos
Remodeled in 1910 in the Beaux-Arts style, Pershing Square would become part of the city's LGBTQ+ history: a place of drag in the 1920s, it would also be the scene of activist gatherings. In 1951, the construction of an underground garage changed the face of the park into a traffic-encircled island. Left abandoned in the 1960s, it was finally rehabilitated in the 1990s, thanks to the addition of artworks and contemporary constructions. Today, it is an important meeting point and stopping place for Angelenos.
