Hollywood Boulevard
Street with museums and points of interest dedicated to the heritage of the cinema in Los Angeles, celebrities in wax at Madame Tussauds
A veritable icon, this street is dotted with museums and points of interest paying tribute to the legacy of cinema in Los Angeles. It's here that you can track stars on the Walk of Fame, put your hands in the footprints of actresses and actors in front of the TCL Chinese Theatre, visit superb boutiques dedicated to the seventh art, see the dungeon used in The Silence of the Lambs - at the Hollywood Museum - or visit waxwork celebrities at Madame Tussauds. A district steeped in history... which has lost much of its splendor to become a tourist attraction bordering on the crude and vulgar. Agoraphobes please!
It's with this sad fact in mind that you should visit Hollywood Boulevard. To get the most out of Hollywood Boulevard, we recommend you come in the late afternoon, spend 1 to 3 hours there - depending on whether you'd like to visit one of the museums - and then go and see a film at the mythical TCL Chinese Theatre, which is usually deserted. This way, you can come out after dark and see a different side of the district, almost like the Las Vegas Strip. Grab a hot dog from one of the small street stands and wander between the street performers. Be careful; keep your hand on your bag until you reach the Starbucks, at which point the hustle and bustle gradually dies down. Then push on to one of the neighborhood's fine bars, such as the charming No Vacancy.
