THE LANGHAM HUNTINGTON
Old world charm resort located northeast of Downtown with gardens and large function rooms in Pasadena
The Langham Huntington belongs to the prestigious hotel chain of the same name. Built in 1907 in an architectural style reminiscent of traditional Hispanic missions, this resort with its old-world charm is by far the most prestigious address east of Los Angeles. Located northeast of Downtown Pasadena and adjacent to the famous Huntington Library, the property sprawls across more than 20 acres, complete with gardens and large function rooms. Among the many amenities offered are golf, tennis, spa and a renowned restaurant.

This was a 5 star hotel at one time. The prices are 5 star prices with the service of a 3 star hotel.
There isn’t even a vending machine to get a soft drink or snacks when you arrive late at night.
I don’t know who is running this hotel, but they have destroyed an institution with their pitiful service and lack of perks for frequent visitors.
As a member of the 1865 club you always received a greeting in the form of a personal note from management along with some snacks and a bottle of sparkling wine. It was something to look forward to and a nice gesture that was appreciated.
All those years of membership in the 1865 club destroyed with no commensurate automatic membership in the new loyalty club. It’s as if all those years and thousands of dollars spent at the hotel were for naught.
No loyalty to guests who have stayed there for years. Draconian photography prohibitions, and high prices with less service has destroyed my experience at the Langham. Whomever is responsible for the destruction of a once great 5 star hotel should be run out of the hotel business. It’s shameful!
I travel worldwide and have visited numerous Langham properties, but the Pasadena hotel pales in service and value. It’s an outdated property - rooms and bathrooms are sorely in need of an upgrade, It seems to survive solely on a long past reputation; that and the fact it’s set in pristine Pasadena and by charging $47 for overnight parking. No joke.
As a guest, having to repeatedly request more than once for anything made me want to ‘gift’ a Four Seasons training manual to the entire local mgmt and staff.
Candidly, I’m not expecting this review will alter people’s opinions of this hotel nor influence others to consider alternative options. But I am unable to endorse the Langham Pasadena, and it’s not for a lack of wanting to do so (it’s just so beautiful). Unless major investments in training and accommodations are made, the price to value ratio is simply not justified.
