GAMBLE HOUSE
Iconic building of Pasadena dating from 1908, marked by its architectural style, the mixture of Swiss chalet and Japanese temple
This is Pasadena's iconic building. Built in 1908 for David and Mary Gamble, this architectural gem laid the foundation for a style that would become popular throughout California: Arroyo, or Arts and Crafts. A mix of a Swiss chalet and a Japanese temple, this house has a romantic air about it. Inside and out, the attention to detail is spectacular; not surprisingly, all the furniture was designed specifically for this house. Full tours are given weekly.
