Association of California Institute of Technology and NASA in charge of the construction and supervision of unmanned flights.

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory - JPL - was founded in the 1930s, when Professor Theodore von Kármán of Caltech - California Institute of Technology - began his rocket propulsion experiments. Today, it is a partnership of the institute and NASA, responsible for building and overseeing unmanned flights, such as the two Mars Exploration Rover mission robots. JPL offers guided tours that give a good overview of its activities.
