SIERRA VISTA RANCHO / SATWIWA

Located in a totally wild area, the Santa Mónica Mountains park is the stronghold of condors and eagles, but also mountain lions. This territory has reserved part of its domain in the memory of Hutash (Mother Earth) and Tugupan (the Sky). On the lands of the Chumash and Gabrielino, you walk and dream if you are among those who seek the calm, deep serenity and spirituality that these mountains can evoke. The Canyon of Sycamore, which cuts through Rancho Sierra Vista and Point Mugu State Park, was part of a commercial road of the Chumash people. Satwiwa, which means "cliffs", was the name of a neighbouring chumash village. Part of the national park today bears this name in tribute to Amerindian culture.
