The mission was founded in 1772 by Father Junípero Serra. It is the only Californian missionary church in the form of "L". Today, it is a parish church of the Diocese of Monterey. From the square, there are three bells hanging on the facade of the church. Inside, we discover the second nave that stretches to the right of the altar and makes the particularity of this mission. On the other hand, the museum offers a beautiful exhibition on the Chumash Indians.
