Founded in 1938 as the Palm Springs Desert Museum, the museum houses high-quality collections. It features works by modern and contemporary artists such as Chagall, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Alexander Calder and Robert Rauschenberg. In all, some 12,000 pieces are on display in 28 galleries and two sculpture gardens. The building is also home to the Annenberg Theater, a superb performance venue. In front of the entrance, it's hard to miss the giant statue of Marilyn Monroe from the film Seven Years Thinking.
