the calamari fritti were good. the spaghetti carbonara had practically no flavor - very disappointing in an italian restaurant. i hadn't even finished the appetizer when the main course arrived - apparently this is normal in many places in america. the price-performance ratio is unfortunately not quite ok either. we didn't feel very welcome as guests - maybe we were in the wrong place on the wrong evening.

Everything was perfect. Food, wine, appetizers and server Luigi was awesome. They pay such close attention to detail-you won’t be disappointed

The pasta was really good but the calamari was nothing special. The arancini balls were my favourite, they were nice a cheesy with a tomato sauce. The staff was very kind and friendly. I had the espresso martini and I really enjoyed it.

Pretty good Italian! Not the best ever but still great! The chicken park was delicious. Would reccommend.

Cozy atmosphere, we were a party of 8 with a reservation and we were seated immediately. I enjoyed the Chilean Sea Bass with mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. The potatoes were not warm enough for my liking, but overall, I enjoyed my experience and my food. Several others gave high praise to their order of lobster ravioli, and the Prosciutto and Bruschetta were great appetizers for sharing.

Disappointed with our visit. Wanted dessert, told only takeout was possible, which was fine. However, the hostess rudely asked us to move from the line, implying we were a nuisance. Felt disrespected and unwelcome. A disappointing experience over what should have been a simple treat.

La hostess fue grosera, tratamos de comprar postre y nos dijo que no podíamos sentarnos que tenía que ser para llevar, ese no fue el problema, si no que al final nos pidió que nos moviéramos de la fila porque estorbábamos.

This was a really fun place to dine. We came here for dinner on our last night in town. Made reservations, no problem. Was seated promptly upon arrival. Got a seat on the patio under the heaters and the night lights. It was very comfortable. Service was very welcoming and warm. Food was served with a short wait and it was very exquisite; very tasty and yummy. Dessert was equally great! So glad we came here. They did a great job! Totally recommend and would come back again!

UPDATE (3/25/24):

Our family is back in San Diego and Nonna is a must stop for us since we had such a good time here about a couple of years ago. This time it’s a Monday (3/25) evening. We called and made reservations for 5 (we weren’t able to make reservations online). The place is exactly how I remembered it. Service was excellent. Our server (Justin) was very hospitable and did a great job! Food is excellent, all came out tasted great and very delicious. We got the Sea Bass, the Lasagna, the Short Rib Ravioli, and the Chicken Rigatoni. The Cannoli was amazing. So glad we came back here.

This place remains one of my top recommended eatery in this area. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food, great service, and quality dining experience. Yes you will pay more to dine here but the value to price ratio is a 5/5. Daylight was longer this time when we went so the dining experience (mood) was not as intimate as previous when it was dark outside but it doesn’t change anything. All still very good. Just keep that in mind when dining here. Nonna still earns the 5/5 rating even a year later!

Brunch wasn’t really their thing. The cold cuts board was not fresh so it was hard to eat. But it seems like folks that ordered lunch things at other tables were much happier :)

This is only based off of one dish (short rib ravioli). I'm not sure if I grabbed the wrong dish or what... but it wasn't good. Planned to order more but after my first dish I decided not to take the disappointment any further. The staff wasn't very friendly and seemed to be in a hurry to get people out. The bartender was chill and the beer was decent, my reason for 2 stars. I'm good on the food, but maybe another visit for the desserts will change my mind about the place.

Great food and service. Loved the pork special. Will advise anyone to pass on the seafood lasagna.

Decided to move further away from the super busy, noisy Farmer's Market and found Nonna's. Got a table on the patio. Service was outstanding and the seafood pasta was delicious. The dessert bar inside for dine-in or take-out was awe inspiring! We took some back to the hotel.

Very unpleasant experience! Main course meatballs were cold and the sauce was bland, the lemon cheesecake was dry, and finally the server (middle aged woman) was rude and very unwelcoming. Would not return or recommend.

Nice seating, albeit inside on the streetside patio. We were there for lunch. We shared an order of Fried Calimari Fritti, and my wife had a nice mixed salad of mixed greens. I had a plate of Rigatoni spiced with a pleasant marinara. It was spiced enough to wake up the palate.

Wow, amazing food.
I had the rigatoni with sausage. Supposedly spicy, but it wasn't. Lots of sauce (which I love) a little low on pasta.
We shared the Caesar salad, but it has vinegar (which I like) so it was kind of a weird Caesar, but good.
I tried the lasagna, not my favorite.

This place serves excellent Italian food and the service was excellent! It's not the best pasta I've ever had but it was still so delicious! If you ever find yourself in little Italy, I would definitely pay them a visit!

Great location in Little Italy district of San Diego. Jesus provided great service. The beef carpaccio and grilled octopus were delicious. It is as a perfect light lunch. We topped it off with a Sicilian cannoli. Yum!
