Great location and affordable

This hotel is closed down. Thank goodness!! It used to be so nice and in the last 4 years has continually gone down hill…. And fast!!!

Hopefully the new owners will make it awesome again!!

If you are just looking for a place to sleep other than the ground this is a good choice. The location is the best thing about this place. It is the cheapest place this close to the beach and there’s a reason why. The room had not head board the carpet was replaced since last time I was here with cheap vinyl flooring. The bathroom shower is umm not good to say the least. But if you’re not here for the 5 star treatment and you want to just walk around it will due. I choose it because it has free parking and it was walking distance to the beach.

We keep coming back. Rooms are very clean, pool area is nice to relax in, staff are friendly and very helpful.

This is a 2 star hotel and that is the rating it deserves. The front desk people went above and beyond and were extremely kind and helpful, but that is about where my good comments end for this hotel. The pool was decent, the room was pretty quiet, and the location is Coronado and all that that comes with, but the rooms them selves were... not great. Two major things: the rooms were very bright at night when trying to sleep. No black out curtains, it was difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Also the sheets never felt actually clean and there weren’t fitted sheets on the king bed, so by the morning I was just sleeping on a mattress protector, with the bottom sheet all bundled up. Second it this hotel did not have the second security lock (chain or bar) that is out of reach of toddlers, it only had the deadbolt that unlocks when you pull the lever handle, so it was impossible to keep our 2 year old in the room with out piling suitcases in front of the door, so it wasn’t real safe with the road being right there. Also no microwave fridge in the room to heat up food and the “breakfast pastries and coffee” listed as being in the front office for breakfast was not there, at least the week that we were there.

Great location but RUN from spending your money here. We over paid for a room that was dirty, sheets stained and gross, toilet seat broken (we had to fix), countertop was dirty & tub was dirty. Since room was non refundable we had to purchase cleaning supplies to make it through our stay.

This is a great location for being in the mix of it all. Parking is extremally tight and your butted up against a USPS facility. Don't worry the banging of all the mail carts and slamming doors will wake you up around 3am so you don't need to set an alarm. The walls to the rooms are paper thin and you can be apart of everyone's lives. The bed was very comfy we thought.

Excelente ubicación sobre avenida principal de corona beach

The location is perfect! The rooms are clean but well used. They close the pool at 8 which was fortunate because our room was right by it. Great parking! We walked to dinner tonight. Do not count on breakfast however. The coffee was horrible per my husband. No Decaf for me. Little Debbie packaged pastries. Powdered creamer - it's not hard to have milk. Apples & oranges. We ran to Vons for our breakfast for tomorrow. Fortunately there is a small fridge.

The rooms are outdated and that is understandable for a motel expecting what you would get. The walls are thin but if you are respectful to others, they will return the favor. Overall the bed was comfy and the room was clean. Looking through the one star reviews I was nervous after booking but here for work, I only needed a bed and shower to get me through the week. It is not hotel del quality obviously but affordable and location is key to booking this hotel. Do not book expecting luxury and you will not be disappointed. Although I did not use the pool it appeared clean and quiet the entire trip. Again it is outdated and in need of upgrades but if you can get over this and thin walls, the affordability is great for a trip planned for Coronado.

A friend of mine stayed there and his room got robbed. The front desk basically shrugged and told him “too bad”. If you have anything that you value, I’d think twice about staying here

The only good thing about this place was location, location, location! Just a short walk to Coronado beach, which didn’t matter since the sewage coming up from Mexico necessitated Beach closings per much of 2023. Check SD Beach info for water quality and beach closures if you plan on swimming in the ocean. The room we stayed in was a little dirty, the towels smelled musty, the walls were paper thin so I could hear the people upstairs conversation! There was no trash liners in the trash cans, no microwave, a funky old shower curtain (when typically these places have sliding glass shower doors), and the bathroom door didn’t close well. The staff were an entirely different breed and all looked stoned! Very unprofessional and not too pleasant. I think they were Mexican or East Indian or something and they all had attitudes and were dressed very unprofessional. Some people staying there looked homeless. Don’t stay here! Also it’s next to a patio restaurant so you can hear the music and chatter from the diners and staff. Spend a few extra bucks and stay at the Gaviota or the Hotel Del.

TERRIBLE attitude of the owner working the front desk. Chagerged us $25 dollars to check into our room early even though the hotel was empty. We tried to engage in small talk with him but he was rude and not friendly whatsoever! We check out a few hours earlier and he was still rude and not friendly. Location amazing! Hotel rooms very outdated like the bathrooms the furniture very worn out we have definitly stayed in better hotrls for better prices and AMAZING customer service specially from the OWNER. I dont recommend you stay here ynless you want TERRIBLE attitude from the OWNER go to hotel coronado! Oh the floor were super wet when we walked in not sure why. And the bed moves around since its only on a wooded platform. Forgot somethibg he also called the cops on my boyfriend who is a cop because of the way we looked?? Like what?

The room looks like they just went around trying to find the cheapest labor possible, you can see numerous spots of poor workmanship in painting, calking, ect that just makes the room look more rundown than I'd expect for Coronado. There is zero insulation between rooms so it sounds like the person in the next room is in your room, you can hear them breathing, every word they say clearly every time they toss and turn ect. Around 4 am a weird humming started that almost sounded like a sander and ran until 4:40 am, street sounds are very loud too due to a lack of exterior insulation. Additionally door handles frequently got stuck making it difficult to enter your room with your key card (had a few friends staying at the same time we all had the same issue). I was told at 6 there would be coffee, fruit and bars at the front desk, however even at 7 there was nothing. Front desk staff were friendly at check-in, and it is in a great location, but the room quality was lacking.

Read the reviews after booking and was a bit worried. No need to worry - not sure what the deal is with the bad reviews, but the Inn was great considering the price vs location! All was great, staff (the older lady) was super nice, rooms are spatious and clean. Yes, the walls are thin, but if you lead by example and keep it quiet, you’re good. No coffee maker in the room (but who does use it anyway nowadays). Overall we had a great stay!

I recently stayed at the La Avenida Inn, and the experience was far from satisfactory. The first thing I noticed was the name plate front desk that said "I think I am THE BOSS," which gave me an weird vibe. The bed had a sheet used as a cover, or duvet, over the cheap motel 6 style blanket, and it was not tucked in on one side, which made it seem like it may be a rush job. There were also several cracks in the walls and paint bubbling up. The motel also provided a yellow plastic ice bucket with cups. A guy who came in to remind us, with a slight attitude, that check out time was 11am, 2 minutes before, he also was not wearing a name tag and was wearing regular cloths. We were remi ded that there was a penalty for checking in early, which I thought was a little offputting as well. Furthermore, there was a water puddle deeper than my shoe on the only path to our room. The dingy white bath towels didn't make the experience any better, and the bathtub was cracked and had the bottom painted and that was peeling off. The bathtub and shower curtain also had mildew. The ice machine filter was 4 years old, and the white paint on the walls didn't match the paint used to patch the walls. Lastly, the wall mirror was placed inside the wardrobe behind the the cloths hangers which was then blocked.

I was there last night at Room 207.
I forgot my iPhone’s charger in the room, when I called the office, the manager said nothing is here.
But I believe it was there.
