Maritime Museum of San Diego
The Maritime Museum of San Diego houses one of the largest collections of ships in the United States.
Opened in 1948, it houses one of the largest collections of ships in the United States, including submarines, a yacht and a motor ferry. The magnificent sailing ships moored at the docks are a testament to three centuries of marine architecture, such as the Star of India, a true marvel built in 1863. In addition, the museum has reconstructed an identical replica of the San Salvador, the ship of the explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo (1499-1543).
