TUNA HARBOR PARK
Small park located right next to the imposing aircraft carrier USS Midway with a beautiful view of San Diego Bay
This small park located right next to the imposing aircraft carrier USS Midway offers a nice view of the San Diego Bay. It allows you to observe the famous - and controversial - bronze statue Unconditional Surrender, created by the artist John Seward Johnson II. Representing a sailor kissing a nurse, it was directly inspired by Alfred Eisenstaedt's famous photograph, V-J Day in Times Square, taken on August 14, 1945. This famous kiss on the day of the Japanese surrender is a symbol of the end of the Pacific War.
